Use an herbal wedding  toss to avoid the environmental impact of rice! Dried flowers will not harm birds, is not slippery to walk on, doesn't hurt (this could be huge), lends a beautiful fragrance to the church and will decompose into the ground.  Made with 'wedding herbs'  which are available with the season.  Each separate herb has a special meaning and so can be tailored to the message you would like it to send.

 

Rose petals are a standard, they stand for love. Marjoram is a lovely addition, meaning joy and happiness. Lavender is another standard which means devotion.  Chamomile is so lovely, it means may all your wishes come true. Feverfew is another nice one that says you light up my life.  Sage, although not what is normally expected is one I like, it means long life and good health.

 

As you can see, this can be prepared with only you in mind.  The stock wedding toss is sold in one pound bags which is about 20 cups, or 40 half cup sachets to hand out..
